When a hair care product advertises itself as being “natural” it simply means that the product has avoided all the unnecessary chemical components. It can also mean that the manufacturer is an environment-friendly company who are trying to provide a product with herbal and plant components. The most common factor that many of us generally face is itchy scalp and dull, greying hair. After the usage of chemical shampoos for a long time these effects are bound to show up. That’s why; consumers prefer natural hair care products now-a-days.

Our hair plays a significant role in our life. It is habitually viewed as being one of the most important aspects of our overall look. Having healthy and stylish hair is quite a desirable aesthetic feature. When we visit a cosmetic or medical store we are presented with a wide variety of hair care products which not only differ in their brand names but also in their effectiveness.

Our hair is always subjected to factors like dust, weather conditions, dirt and even to the chemical additives which is present in the hair care products we use on a daily basis. Natural hair care products are more preferable, given the fact that there is practically no chemical composition to be worried about while it keeps the hair clean and healthy.

The Principle Ingredients In Natural Hair Care Products

Ingredients in hair care products containing natural components can be broadly grouped into two categories:

  • Herbal ingredients
  • Addition of synthetic ingredients
    1. Herbal ingredients –The ingredients in these products are all natural herbs, so that it does not end up harming the hair. On the other hand, the use of herbal ingredients is beginning to make a significant impact in the way consumers and vendors deal with hair problems. Some of the common herbal ingredients used for healthy hair are:
  • Saw palmetto: A small sized palm tree, generally found in the South Eastern US
  • Rosemary: A fragrant, evergreen shrub belonging to the mint family
  • Nettle root: A wild, hairy or spiny plant
  • Licorice Extracts: A sweet rooted plant growing near the Mediterranean
    1. Addition of synthetic ingredients – Synthetic ingredients are also being added in the shampoos. In fact some ingredients that you find listed on the label of the shampoo may actually be a synthetic version. An appropriate example of this type is jojoba oil. Generally shampoo products only contain the synthetic version of the oil and not the original. Aloe Vera is also an example. It is often watered down by the time it is added to the shampoo. In the highly competitive market of selling hair care and beauty products the companies must provide the customer’s demands. This includes the need to use some chemicals.

Whenever you go to purchase your hair care product you should always check the labels. Whether the product has organic ingredients or herbal? Are the products tested? You could identify your suitable shampoo by checking whether it is helpful for the problem that you are facing. You should go for those shampoos which have natural essential oils like hemp seed oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, etc. I hope, by going natural, you will not only be gentle to your hair, but be loving to your environment as well.
