Aloe Vera is an Arabic word, which means bitter. Plants are found growing in the dry areas of America, Asia, Europe and Africa. There are 400 species; Aloe barbadensis miller is the most popular variety that is used for commercial products. Aloe plants are used in the form of extracts and gels for Aloe Vera skin care.
Aloe plants have been used for thousands of years for the treatment of burns and to heal infections. Indians, Arabs, Africans and Egyptians have all used these plants for various treatments. Eczematous skin conditions have been favourably treated by ancient Chinese using Aloe Vera gel.
These succulent plants are easily grown in home gardens or indoors as windowsill plants, and they require very little maintenance or care. They are perennial plants, which are a member of the lily family. It’s a medicinal plant that thrives in warm climates, outdoors and indoors. Plant foliage consists of several thick, long, serrated leaves, gathered in a rosette shape with little to no obvious stem.
Each leaf contains a yellowish-green, gelatinous sap which can be used for an assortment of treatments. There are more than 200 chemical compounds contained in the juices of leaves that are known to benefit skin. People love to grow this plant and keep it available for minor wounds, cuts and burns.

It’s frequently found in shampoos and natural soothing balm products.

There are many natural skin care products on the market that are well made and do provide the cleansing and healing properties of aloe. Lotions made with Aloe Vera are widely used by many for skin cleansing and organic baby skin care. Organic skin care products made with aloe, increase oxygen to your skin and strengthen skin tissues.
Some makeup products use Aloe in combination with collagen and Vitamin E, which helps to maintain the suppleness and elasticity of skin for sensitive skin care, while keeping moisture in. Suntan lotions made with aloe in combination with SPF factors are particularly popular for their anti-burning properties. Derivatives or sap are also used in moisturizers, sunscreens and specialized dry skin conditioners.
Aloe Vera And The Effect It Has On Aging
Is it possible to slow down the aging process? Aloe does have some incredible healing benefits, which increase the strength of skin tissue. It provides additional oxygen to skin as deep as seven layers. It’s possible to stimulate cell rejuvenation, giving skin a youthful appearance. The gel obtained from an aloe plant is absorbed quickly by skin and cleanses pores, while moisturizing skin at the same time.
Growing Aloe Vera Plants
It’s easy enough to grow your own handy medicinal plant to have around the house, especially for burns. Aloe will flourish outdoors when grown in moist, warm climates. If you don’t have that type of favourable climate, then growing it indoors will work just as well.
These succulent plants require well-drained soil. If you’re planting indoors in a container, mix one part potting soil to one part soil mix for cactus. It’s advisable to mix small amounts of gravel into soil beds outdoors to provide adequate drainage for plants.
Plants should be fertilized about every four weeks. A liquid fertilizer that’s high in phosphorus and nitrogen should be sufficient. The unusual properties of aloe plants allow for foliar feeding. Plants can absorb fertilizer and water through roots and leaves as well. Aloe thrives in full sun and must be allowed to dry out between watering. Succulents are drought tolerant and store plenty of water in their leaves for dry spells.
Gels that are extracted from the leaves can be extremely beneficial to skin and provide soothing relief from burns. Consider growing your own plants in container pots and take advantage of the healing properties of Aloe Vera skin care for accidental burns and dry skin.

I hot linked that image on another site while suggesting that a friend who posted photos of his sunburn get an aloe plant, or purchase a bottle… I realized after submitting my post and viewing it on that site that there was a breast in the image. Honestly, I’m ashamed of myself for not noticing… I mean, not because I shouldn’t have posted it, but because it’s a beautiful breast, and I (as a man) should not have been able to focus on the plant.
Fan, I nearly spat out all my coffee in laughter at your comment.
Typical man haha!

When I was growing up my mother (who sadly has passed away) always kept an also vera plant I. The house. As a child i was a bit of a piro-maniac! That plant soothed many of my burns and in most cases eliminated scaring. Its an amazing plant and id like to buy one to keep in my own house now.
Also, I didn’t even notice the breast until reading about it in comments. I don’t think it needs to be removed. .
