Rosacea Skin Care Products Should Be Selected Carefully

Advertisements

The redness and associated tingling, burning and itching of this inflammatory skin condition warrant careful selection of rosacea skin care products. Because the skin is so sensitive, some solutions may cause a worsening of symptoms and should be avoided. Some products are effective, but restricted to short term use, as they may have long lasting side effects if used routinely. While it is best to consult a dermatologist or skin specialist for proper rosacea skin treatment, there are a few tips to consider that may make living with this condition much easier.

Protective Rosacea Skin Care Products

Protective products are those that keep the skin from being further harmed. Many dermatologists and skin specialists recommend that people who suffer from this disorder use a sun screen or even a sun block, to keep the sun’s UV rays from further irritating the skin. A product that covers all the different types of UV rays is the most suitable choice. Though some people believe some additional sun exposure can be good for acne skin treatment, it can be irritating to existing inflammation. It is not recommended as an acne rosacea treatment. An SPF of 15 to 30 is recommended to be used every day, even on days that appear somewhat overcast or rainy.

Products For Sensitive Skin

Rosacea Skin CareThere are many creams and lotions promoted as being gentle on skin that can quickly become irritated, such as rosacea skin. While many products claim to be gentle, only a few are recommended by dermatologists, for those with a rosacea skin condition or other skin disorder. Eucerin is one product that is extremely gentle for those who suffer from many different skin conditions. It provides moisture, while also providing vitamins that are known to be healthy for the skin, such as vitamin E. There are no perfumes or dyes in this type of product, so the additional irritants are removed.

Ingredients used in rosacea treatment must be mild and soothing. Rosacea care is a line of products specially formulated without the irritants that can be harsh. They include things like oatmeal, which are soothing, yet work as a mild cleansing agent. Other products from this line use vitamin K and ingredients that have anti-inflammatory properties, to reduce redness and irritation. There are many other skin care lines on the market, that are designed to help the rosacea skin condition, rather than add to the irritation. The best products are likely to be those developed by skin care professionals, who understand the frustration and challenges of caring for acne rosacea.

Though the rosacea skin condition is a form of acne, it cannot tolerate harsh products that contain peroxide or astringents with witch hazel or alcohol, which can cause further redness and will require dry skin treatment. Among the least harsh products for acne skin treatment, are those that contain natural ingredients.

Rosacea Skin ConditionZen Med is one all natural product that is highly recommended as a rosacea natural treatment. It contains natural plant based anti-inflammatory agents to reduce the redness and irritation. In addition, natural antibacterial agents make it one of the most suitable acne products as well. There are cosmetics formulas for oily skin and dry skin treatment solutions, to address a variety of skin types as well. Zen Med is less expensive than competing products, such as Derma Doctor and B. Kamins. All three products have been recommended by skin specialists, so the most effective may depend on the individual’s need in skin acne products.

Because most people interested in rosacea skin care products are fair skinned and more likely to be sensitive, there are many other ingredients to watch out for, that should be avoided. Citrus, cucumber and other highly acidic natural ingredients may be fine for the occasional oily condition, but not for this inflammatory condition. They can actually make the situation worse.

In addition, typical moisturizers for acne prone skin may also be irritating to this array of symptoms. Certain oils may aggravate the already swollen smaller blood vessels of the skin’s surface, creating additional redness. Dry skin treatment for this condition must consider how to keep moisture in, while reducing harmful bacteria and shrinking swelling of the small vessels.

Prescription Treatments

There are occasions when recommended products are ineffective or that only work for a short period of time. In more severe cases, skin specialists may offer prescription creams, as a viable option. One group of such products is antibacterial creams. They can help reduce or eliminate the over-abundance of harmful bacteria that are part of the cause of the inflammation. Among theses creams are sulfa ingredients, tetracycline creams and other antibiotic creams. While they are a more aggressive form of treatment, they are still less aggressive than oral medications and have fewer side effects to be concerned with.

Hydrocortisone and other steroid creams can be successful in eliminating the kind of swelling and redness associated with this disorder. However, they can have long term side effects. Using a hydrocortisone cream on the skin for years, can make it less pliable and thinner. Often small broken vessels will appear on the cheeks and usually cannot be reversed, when they appear. In addition, they may not address bacteria or other underlying problems associated with this condition.

Because everyone with this problem is different, no one treatment or product will be effective for everyone. The best way to approach treatment is to discuss options in products, with the skin care specialist or dermatologist. It is also important not to become discouraged quickly. You may try a few products before finding the right one for you, that works to address your particular challenges.

Always make note of any product that causes burning and itching that is severe or worsens. The specialist can find something else with different ingredients. Skin care professionals also know which natural ingredients may be detrimental to your treatment, so always ask before trying something new to treat your particular problem. specialists have enough of a chemistry background to understand which products are least suitable for you and your specific dermatological challenges.

  1. Hi! I really like this article and I learned something new. I have a question though. I am from the Netherlands and we do not have zenmed over here. I was wondering where you stand on eucerin products for the facial skin.

I have tried so much and I want to get rid of my metrogel. It helps a little, but when I stop, the redness comes back right away!

I also try to keep up a healthy diet,. This also helps me, I have eliminated all my known triggers.

    Thank you for your answer,

    Miranda
