I am delighted to report that after reading my previous posts, one of my ambitious readers decided to start her own beauty business from home. She wrote to me about it in detail and we have been in touch for some months now. So I have been privy to the growth of her beauty mini-empire right from the start; from the secret ingredients in her organic makeup to the discount store where she buys some really pretty containers for her hair gel.
I have also shared in her hardships. One of the things that she found really hard to do was to sell her products. Sure, her mom and her friends and colleagues bought them. But her dreams are bigger than that. She needed to attract a larger crowd. And the best way to do that was to harness the almost infinite potential of the World Wide Web. She decided that selling her beauty products online was the way to go.
Since we have been in touch for quite a while, I’ve had almost day-to-day updates on what she did and how she did it. She was so excited when it worked that she asked me to write about it. So this post is dedicated to her and I am grateful that she has allowed me to share her tips with all my readers.
Expand Your Business by Selling Your Beauty Products Online
Start a Website
In today’s world, one of the best ways to give your business credibility is to create a professional website. You can network as much as you want to. But let’s face it, you cannot sit and explain all your products and whatnot to a potential customer only face to face. I mean, who has the time for that in this rat race.
Instead, you can chat up a potential customer and then give them your card that has your website listed in addition to your other contact details. This way, the prospect will go through your website when they have more time and are more relaxed. You can then follow-up in a couple of weeks or so by sending a text. I am witness to the fact that this actually works in creating more customers.
Or a Blog….
In case you cannot afford a website – or you are too lazy to start one – you can simply blog about your beauty products online at any of the free blog-hosting websites out there. You can set up in minutes and begin marketing your stuff.
You can post comments on blogs that have similar tastes to yours and can also post a link to your own blog. Alternately, you can promote like websites and hope that they will return the favor.
One Word – eBay
If you feel that a blog or website is too much of a hassle, then simply sell your products on eBay. This is the simplest option, and also the most lucrative. But to really boost your sales, it is best to have your own website or blog that you can link back to from eBay so that your customers can learn more about your product.
I’m sure there are many other things that can be done to create better sales online. If you guys have any other tips that budding business women can use, please do share.
