How To Recognise Fake MAC Make Up

Advertisements

MAC make up is a very popular and a high end make up brand simply because it captures every woman’s attractiveness. Regardless of whether you dress up for the red carpet or posing as a gorgeous bride, this make up line is one that you can rely on. Celebrities such as Fergie, Pamela Anderson and Lisa Marie Presley have been the star spokesperson for this beauty line.

MAC – a very popular brand but an expensive one. Many people want to get their make up for less than the list price so they go for online sites where fake products are sold rampantly. Fake MAC is not only a rip-off, as you are not getting what you actually paid for, but the ingredients can be harmful as well. So, if you in any way suspect fake MAC products, steer away from it for your own health.

Nowadays finding sellers who sell authentic MAC products is like finding needle in a haystack. Once it was actually safe to buy products from online sites, but now you are ten times more likely to purchase a counterfeit item than before.

So, now the question arises as to how to spot these fakes? When an online seller offers you a ‘steal’ or a ‘good deal’, for branded cosmetics, be sure that it’s time to start acting wary. Most of the top-notch brands hardly offer discounts; still there are hoards of sites selling them at extremely low price. So it’s better to learn than to regret later.

Some Pointers To Keep In Mind

  • A sign that a seller is authentic is the picture at the bottom of the packaging. If the seller is selling authentic product, it will provide you a proof of it. But if the pictures are blurred and vague, contact the seller immediately and inform him and ask for more pictures. If he refuses or tries to do away with the matter, he might be selling you fake products.
  • MAC items such as brushes, pigments will have a name and not number.
  • MAC eye shadows will never come with applicator tips. In fact, most MAC products do not come with applicator at all.
  • The fonts are usually small and in the bottom corner. Fakes may have bigger typeface and can be centered.

How To Distinguish Fake MAC Make Up Brushes

  • Packaging: Real MAC brushes come in clear plastic package with bar code. Fake ones might be in plastic but sans bar code.  They also come with additional plastic protectors for the hairy tip.
  • Handle: Real ones are available with wooden, black handles with a silver neck. Fakes can be seen having black plastic necks.
  • Lettering and Logo: Authentic brushes have the logo “MAC###”, ### is the number of the brush. The lettering is printed on the handle and easily comes off when you scratch it. On fakes brushes it’s very hard to rub off.

Now that you are equipped with so much knowledge about fake ones, have a happy time buying authentic MAC make up. I would love to hear your views on this. Do write in.
