I’ve always been secretly envious of women with a head full of thick, soft hair. It’s true that a woman’s hair is her crowning glory and for those of us with thin hair, getting it to look as beautiful as we would like is quite a task. Thin hair is very difficult to style, looks limp and falls flat very easily, but making it look thicker is possible with the right hairstyles.
The best hair styles for thin hair are those that give the illusion of fuller hair. There are a lot of different styles you could choose from based on the length of your hair, its natural texture and the shape of your face. Also, keep in mind how much time you can spare to maintain it. It would be impossible for a working woman with a busy schedule to sit and style her hair for an hour every day!
Best Hair Styles for Thin Hair
I’ve found that the simplest hair styles are usually best, so that I don’t spend hours styling my hair every day. With thin hair, you have to be especially careful, as the use of too many styling products and treatments can cause damage to your hair, or it might trigger hair fall. This will just make them look thinner and flatter than before.
Layers are a great choice of hair styles for thin hair as they add bounce and texture to limp hair. Any hairstyle with a layered effect will make your hair look fuller and thicker as well as more feminine and graceful. These are especially helpful if you want to keep your hair long, as long hair often looks flatter than short hair. You can also use an updo for long fine hair, as it will look beautiful and sophisticated while hiding the fact that your hair is thin.
Short hair is the best choice for any woman (or man) with thin hair. It makes your hair look thicker and creates an effect of fullness. Curly short hair would be even better, as curls are very effective at adding volume and curly hair is very trendy this season too! For medium to long tresses too, curly hair makes them look more bouncy and thick.
Keep the shape of your face in consideration while picking a hairstyle. If you have an angular or square face, then soft curls will make your face look more feminine. Bangs that fall over your forehead or off to the side can make your hair look softer and coupled with wavy or curly hair, they can create magic!
The strategic use of highlights will create a dimensional effect, but they should not be overdone. Get highlights that are close to your natural hair colour and avoid colouring your hair too often. Chemical treatments can cause your hair to start falling, or thin them out even further by damaging the strands.
I hope you found these tips helpful and I would love to hear what you think. Leave me a comment or email and tell me all about it.
