Givenchy is a make-up brand that I have never explored before. It always hid between the depths of my favourites such as MAC, Chanel and Dior. When I was wandering in the mall, I discovered a counter and had a browse. I didn’t particularly know much about the product. So, I spoke to the representative and he willingly enlightened me with the brand history and the product range it has to offer.

Givenchy, a French brand was founded by Hubert de Givenchy in 1952. It deals in clothing, accessories, perfumes and cosmetics. The rep informed me that make up from Givenchy has come up with a combination of groundbreaking formulas and shades, as well as total management of light effects, under Nicholas Degennes, who is the brand’s artistic director.  The renowned Prisme principle is used as a basis for over 150 make-up orientation of the brand. Every new season sees enrichment in the line of products, with limited editions and trendy products.

As I browsed through the counters, with the help of the rep, I chose two products to purchase for my makeover.

‘ActiMine’ make up base/ primer in peach

The aforesaid is a makeup base and primer named ‘ActiMine’ by the brand. Its claim on the packaging is that it ‘wakes up the skin’ which I fully agree with.  The rep claimed it could not only brighten my skin, correct imperfections and blemishes but also even skin tone and seal make up for a long time. At first I was hesitant, but the results proved me wrong. The product is packaged within a tube, making it easy to apply it with a sponge, brush or finger. It should be dotted all over the face and then blended for an even complexion. The product fully lived up to all the claims. It has quickly become a staple product in my makeup bag. ‘ActiMine’ is available in six shades and if you’re careful, it will last about five months of daily use.

Phenomen Eyes Mascara in Extension Black

This mascara coats the eyelashes brilliantly and really fans them out. With over 50 bristles on a 360 degree brush, the wand can be used in any way you please. You can push up the lashes for volume or you can twist it outwards to lengthen and extend. The best bit is you can use it with one coat during the day for a basic look or add an extra coating for a real vamped up look for a dramatic evening!
