I always fret over the shade of my lipstick and lip liner. So do many women. Those who have a dark skin, have to be overly careful of selecting the liner that would suit the skin. However, sometimes I feel that many a times our selection is wrong and we end up looking odd with a wrong lip liner. Imagine a well dressed woman with perfect make up on but wrong shade of a lip liner! It’s important to have a correct and best lip liner shade whether you are attending an office meeting or going out with your partner for a party. It sort of boosts your confidence.
Choosing Best Lip Liner Shade
How do you choose the best lip liner shade for your skin? Well after a lot of experiments on myself (who else?) and sharp observations on other women (well, women love to observe each other, isn’t it?), I have come to my set of conclusions. I will list them below for the benefit of all my sisters.
Dark skin
Women with dark skin should choose a lip liner which either matches the shade of their lipstick or is slightly darker than their lipstick shade. Usually all shades of brown like chocolate-brown, creamy brown, rich brown looks absolutely divine on women with dark skin. It adds a rich glow on their lips making them look irresistible. You could also try wine red or purple. Try a blue undertone for red shade. Also deep plums and mahogany look great on a dark skin.
Medium skin
Women with medium skin can choose lip liner shades of dark pink or dark reds. All shades of rich caramel will look great. Also you can use yellow or pink undertone with medium or dark brown. However, it is advisable not to use light brown lip liner for this skin type else lips look washed out.
Olive skin
Women with yellow or olive skin should choose lip liner shades of dark berry. Deep brown reds too look great on them. However they should avoid shades which are orange and pink as the skin looks paler with these shades.
Fair skin
Women with fair skin will do well with lip liner shades of wine reds, berry reds, plum reds. Try using a blue undertone for all the reds. Browns with an undertone of pink will have a dazzling effect. In fact, women with fair skin can use an undertone of pink with almost any color.
A lip liner is a boundary for lipstick. It’s important to choose the lip liner shade depending on your skin type. Many times I end up with a wrong lip liner just because I see a model wearing it on television. However, I have learnt now that all shades suit on all skin types. The lip liner shade best for a skin will be the one which will make your lips look natural and luscious.
