Is your unwanted body hair a problem for you? Are you still dreaming of wearing that off shoulder dress? Unwanted body hair, generally has a tendency to show up, mostly in the wrong places. But there are ways for removing of such hair. One such way is laser hair removal.  Now, you might be wondering if laser hair removal is a safe way of removing hair from your body or is the method gentle and harmless to your skin. Let me tell you, most of us are generally unaware of the laser hair removal side effects. Although it’s an efficient way for permanent removal of your body hair, the method still has certain side effects associated with it.

Some Laser Hair Removal Side Effects

Laser hair removal is considered to be a convenient way for hair removal. However, certain problems also arise through this. They can, however, be done away with, in time. Almost every treatment done with the use of technology or medication has some kind of negative outcome. Let us have a look at some common side-effects of Laser hair removal, which may, however, vary from person to person:

  • The skin may redden or swell.
  • It’s a painful process. Most of the people undergoing this can feel pain while going through the process or after the process.
  • Swelling occurs while removing your hair through laser treatment. It depends on the area of removal and is treated accordingly.
  • A least serious side effect is the redness of the skin. With proper suggestion from your physician, this effect can be reduced to a lesser extent.
  • While applying high intensity laser therapy on darker skin, sometimes blisters are formed.
  • Sometimes, after the therapy, dark spots or pigments are seen in the area of application. However, no specific treatment is required for the removal of this side effect. It goes away with time.
  • Skin discoloration is another type of side effect caused by laser hair removal. However, unlike the above mentioned causes which are temporary and erases with time, lightening of the skin is a permanent type of effect. In some cases, however, it may get better.
  • Laser therapy is undertaken under trained technicians. However, in cases where less trained technicians are present, they can burn the skin. It’s a painful side effect that gets cured only with proper prescription from the physician.
  • Severe burns can occur in some cases causing scarring. This is mainly caused when high intensity light is applied to the skin causing burns deep within the skin dermis.

Thus laser hair removal side effects may basically be both temporary and permanent. Again, in some cases, there might not be any side effect at all. If any condition of skin lightening or burning occurs, you must report to your doctor immediately. Only then can your effects be handled properly. Moreover the permanent effects are mainly caused by the lack of well trained technicians. So, next time you are out for any laser hair removal treatment, make sure you have stepped into one of the best treatment centres.
